Five questions lodges ask before going cashless
From 'will guests tip less?' to 'what happens to our tip box?', these are the questions that come up most when lodges and operators consider cashless tipping.

I spend a lot of my week talking to lodge owners, managers, and tour operators about SafariTip, and while every property is different, the same handful of questions comes up in almost every conversation. They're good questions that deserve straight answers, so these are the five we hear most.
1. Will guests tip less if it isn't cash?
It's a natural worry, especially at properties where the tip box has worked for years. In practice the bigger risk runs the other way, since guests who no longer carry cash often end up tipping less than they intended, or not at all, simply because they can't. Letting guests tip by card or phone, in their own currency, removes the most common reason good intentions go unfulfilled.
2. What does it cost us?
Nothing to get started. SafariTip is free for lodges and tour operators, with no monthly fees, setup costs, or hardware, and a small service fee is presented to the guest at checkout to cover card processing and platform costs, so the full tip still reaches your team. Larger operations can add Enterprise features, and we're always happy to talk those through.
3. How and when do we get the money?
Tips are settled to your business bank account every week, kept separate from your revenue, with a full breakdown of who received what. Your team can then pay staff through whatever process you already use, and Enterprise accounts can generate custom staff pay files to make that step even simpler.
4. What happens to our tip box?
There's no reason to remove it. A traditional tip box can sit happily alongside SafariTip for guests who prefer cash, and the all-staff option on the tipping page works in much the same spirit as a shared pool, just without the envelopes.
5. How long does it take to set up?
About five minutes for the basics. You create an account, add your staff and teams (or import them from a spreadsheet), and print your QR codes, with no integrations to configure and nothing for guests to learn, since they simply scan and tip.
If you're weighing it up for your own property and have a question that isn't on this list, I'd genuinely love to hear it, so book a demo and let's talk it through.
