1. Who we are

SafariTip is a cashless digital tipping platform designed for African safari lodges, tour operators, and hospitality businesses. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our platform as a guest, staff member, or business operator.

2. Information we collect

We collect only what is necessary to process tips and operate the platform:

  • Guests: Name (optional), tip amount, currency, and message. We do not store card details - payments are processed by our licensed payment provider.
  • Staff: Name, role, team assignment, and photo as provided by the business operator.
  • Business operators: Business name, contact details, bank account information for settlements, and staff rosters.
  • Usage data: Basic analytics such as page views and device type to improve the platform experience. On this website we use Google Analytics for this, as explained in section 8.

3. How we use your information

  • Process and settle tips to the correct recipients
  • Display staff profiles to guests during the tipping flow
  • Generate settlement reports for business operators
  • Send transaction confirmations and receipts
  • Improve platform performance and user experience
  • Comply with legal and regulatory requirements

4. Payment processing

All payments are processed through a licensed and regulated payment service provider. Card details are handled entirely by the payment provider and are never stored on SafariTip servers. All transactions are PCI DSS compliant with bank-grade encryption.

5. Data sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

  • Our payment processing provider (to complete transactions)
  • Google, which provides the analytics on this website (see section 8)
  • The business operator whose staff you are tipping (tip details and optional guest name/message)
  • Law enforcement or regulators when required by applicable law

6. Data protection

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews. We comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) in South Africa and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) where applicable.

7. Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information. Business operators can manage staff data directly through the admin dashboard. For all other requests, contact us at the address below.

8. Cookies and analytics

We use essential cookies and session storage to maintain your tipping session. These are needed for the platform to work, so they don't require your consent.

On this website we also use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use our pages, such as which pages are viewed, the type of device used, and roughly where in the world visits come from. Google Analytics only sets its cookies (named _ga) if you accept analytics cookies in the banner shown on your first visit. Until you choose, or if you decline, it runs without cookies and receives only limited information without identifiers, such as the page viewed and the type of browser.

We don't use advertising cookies, and we don't sell analytics data or use it for advertising. Your choice is saved in your browser for 12 months, and you can change it at any time with the button below or the Cookie settings link in the footer. 9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to business operators via email. The latest version will always be available at this page.
