By accessing or using SafariTip, you agree to these Terms of Service. SafariTip provides a cashless digital tipping platform for hospitality businesses and their guests. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the platform.
SafariTip enables guests to tip hospitality staff electronically by scanning a QR code and paying by card. Tips are collected by our licensed payment provider and settled to the business operator's designated bank account. The business operator is responsible for distributing tips to staff.
Tips are settled to the business operator's bank account on a monthly basis by default. Weekly settlement may be arranged on request for higher-volume operators. Settlement reports are available through the admin dashboard. SafariTip is not responsible for how the business operator distributes tips to individual staff members.
Settlements are made to the business operator only after the Payment Provider has received cleared funds from the guest's card issuer. SafariTip and the Payment Provider may delay, withhold, or hold a reserve against a settlement where there is a reasonable suspicion of fraud, a high risk of chargebacks, or a regulatory hold. Where settlement is made in a currency other than the currency of the underlying tip, the business operator bears any currency-conversion gains or losses.
Tips are voluntary and generally non-refundable. If a guest believes a tip was processed in error, they may contact us at the address below. Refund requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and must be made within 14 days of the transaction.
Chargebacks initiated by a guest's card issuer are handled by the Payment Provider. The business operator is liable for the value of any chargeback (including any chargeback fees) where SafariTip has already settled the underlying tip. SafariTip may deduct the chargeback amount from future settlements or invoice the business operator. Service fees and processing fees are not refundable on a chargeback.
Where a guest has a complaint about the service they received from a business operator, including the suitability of the tip recipient or the quality of the underlying service, the dispute is between the guest and the business operator. SafariTip and the Payment Provider are not party to that underlying service and have no liability for it. SafariTip will, where reasonable, assist either party to resolve the matter but is not obliged to do so.
You agree not to misuse the platform, including but not limited to: using stolen payment methods, attempting to manipulate tip amounts or settlements, impersonating staff or businesses, or using the platform for money laundering, terrorism financing, or other illegal purposes. You agree to comply with all applicable anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorism-financing laws. SafariTip and the Payment Provider may, in their sole discretion and without liability, block, suspend, reverse, or withhold any transaction or account where they reasonably suspect a breach of this clause.
The SafariTip name, logo, and platform design are the property of SafariTip. Business operators retain ownership of their own branding, staff data, and business information uploaded to the platform.
By using the platform you consent to SafariTip and the Payment Provider collecting, processing, and sharing the personal and payment data necessary to operate the service, in line with the SafariTip Privacy Policy and applicable data-protection laws, including the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and, where relevant, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
SafariTip provides the platform on an "as is" basis and does not warrant uninterrupted uptime. Neither SafariTip nor the Payment Provider is liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform, or for any loss caused by an external supplier's delay or withholding of settlement funds, except in the case of fraud, gross negligence, or wilful misconduct on their part. SafariTip's total liability is limited to the service fees collected by SafariTip on the business operator's transactions in the 12 months preceding the claim, or ZAR 5,000, whichever is greater.
Business operators may close their SafariTip account at any time through the admin dashboard. We may suspend or terminate access to the platform if these terms are violated. Outstanding settlements will be processed before account closure.
We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to business operators via email at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of South Africa.
